Luke 21:5-6

Luk 21:5 Also, since some were talking about the temple, that it was adorned with precious stones and dedicated gifts, he said,
Luk 21:6 “As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”

Jenga

In the game “Jenga,” each player takes a turn placing a block upon the tower, being careful to keep the tower balanced because eventually the whole tower will collapse. The loser is the one who caused the collapse. The trick is not being the one who causes the inevitable.

No one thought of the temple buildings like that. They thought those buildings would outlast generations. But Jesus knew different. We have not learned that lesson today, either. We still put our trust and confidence in things that we see — things which are doomed to be destroyed.

LORD, build us on the inside, with stones that will stay no matter what.
